Tuesday brings a complete six-game NPB slate, with three Central League and three Pacific League matchups. Yokohama hosts Yomiuri at 5:45 p.m. JST, Hanshin meets Yakult at Kyocera Dome, Hiroshima hosts Chunichi at Mazda Stadium, Nippon-Ham welcomes SoftBank to ES CON Field, Rakuten hosts Lotte, and Seibu plays Orix at Tokyo Dome.
One betting note is important before getting into the card. The official NPB probable-starter page had not yet populated Tuesday’s starters when this analysis was completed. Current rotation projections have Shoki Murakami as the most likely Hanshin starter, Iori Yamasaki among the leading Yomiuri possibilities, Yudai Ono favoured for Chunichi, Hiromi Itoh for Nippon-Ham, Livan Moinelo for SoftBank, Kosei Shoji for Rakuten and Aren Kuri among the leading Orix possibilities. Therefore, the totals below are target betting numbers, not claimed consensus sportsbook totals, and some pitching-dependent plays should be re-evaluated if the announced starters differ substantially.
NPB Best Bet of the Day
Best Bet: Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks ML over Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters
This is where standings, season-series dominance and the expected pitching setup all point in the same direction. SoftBank enters the new series at 67-39-1, giving the Hawks the Pacific League’s best winning percentage at .632. Nippon-Ham is a respectable 62-49, but this particular matchup has been extraordinarily one-sided: SoftBank leads Nippon-Ham 14-3 this season. That’s not a small-sample 4-1 or 5-2 advantage—we’re dealing with seventeen meetings in which the Hawks have consistently found ways to win.
SoftBank also enters after beating Rakuten 6-1 Sunday, while Nippon-Ham comes off a wild 13-7 win over Orix. The current pitching forecast has Livan Moinelo as SoftBank’s most likely starter and Hiromi Itoh as Nippon-Ham’s most likely starter. Itoh leads the Pacific League with 131 strikeouts, so I’m not interested in laying an aggressive run line against him. The straight moneyline is the cleaner approach.

Yomiuri Giants vs Yokohama DeNA BayStars Pick
Side Pick: Yomiuri Giants ML
Total Pick: Under 7.5
Yomiuri enters Tuesday at 57-48-2, only two games behind Hanshin atop the Central League. DeNA sits at 48-56-3 and has struggled much more consistently away from home, although Yokohama’s 24-22-3 home record makes this a more competitive matchup. The number that moves me toward the Giants is the season series: Yomiuri owns an 11-5 advantage over DeNA. The Giants have also been excellent away from Tokyo Dome at 29-21.
The Giants’ most recent performance was impossible to ignore. They demolished Chunichi 11-0 on Sunday, while DeNA lost 2-1 to Yakult. Current rotation forecasting lists Iori Yamasaki as Yomiuri’s leading candidate and Shuto Ogata as DeNA’s most likely option, though neither has been officially confirmed yet. If Yamasaki gets the assignment, the Under becomes considerably more attractive. Yomiuri is the stronger side regardless, but I prefer Under 7.5 rather than chasing the Giants after their eleven-run outburst Sunday.

Tokyo Yakult Swallows vs Hanshin Tigers Pick
Side Pick: Hanshin Tigers ML
Total Pick: Under 7.5
Hanshin remains atop the Central League at 59-46-1, while Yakult sits at 49-55-1. More importantly for Tuesday, Hanshin has controlled this matchup with a 10-5 season-series advantage. The Tigers also swept their most recent three-game set against the Swallows, taking all three meetings at Jingu earlier this month.
The pitching forecast makes Hanshin more appealing. Shoki Murakami is currently the leading projected starter, and his 2026 numbers have been excellent: 9-6 with a 1.82 ERA across 138.1 innings, including 119 strikeouts and a 0.95 WHIP. Yakult’s leading projected option is Kojiro Yoshimura. If Murakami is confirmed, I’d be comfortable playing Hanshin ML and would also consider Under 7.0. At 7.5, the Under has enough protection against a 4-3 type of game—the exact sort of competitive result these clubs have produced recently.

Chunichi Dragons vs Hiroshima Toyo Carp Pick
Side Pick: Hiroshima Toyo Carp ML
Total Pick: Under 7.5
This is probably the least attractive side on Tuesday’s slate. Chunichi enters at 46-62-1 compared with Hiroshima at 40-58-4, but the Dragons have been dreadful on the road at 16-33-1. Hiroshima has been considerably more competitive at Mazda Stadium at 23-27-1 and owns a 10-6 season-series advantage over Chunichi. Those factors are enough for me to take the Carp at home rather than back the slightly better overall record.
Runs are where I see the better wagering angle. Neither side enters in anything resembling offensive form—Chunichi was blasted 11-0 by Yomiuri Sunday, while Hiroshima lost 8-1 to Hanshin. Yudai Ono is the most likely Chunichi starter according to the current rotation forecast. Hiroshima’s starter is considerably less certain. Given two clubs occupying the bottom two positions in the Central League and a matchup that should generally favour run prevention over sustained offence, Under 7.5 is preferable to either moneyline.

Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks vs Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters Pick

Total Pick: Under 7.5
SoftBank isn’t simply leading the Pacific League—the Hawks have built an eight-game cushion in the loss column over Nippon-Ham and enter Tuesday with a 67-39-1 record. The head-to-head results are even stronger. SoftBank has gone 14-3 against Nippon-Ham, easily the most lopsided season series involving Tuesday’s six matchups. Nippon-Ham is 34-22 at ES CON Field, so home field matters, but seventeen games of matchup dominance matter more.
I’m resisting the temptation to turn this into a run-line wager because of the likely pitching matchup. Current projections have Hiromi Itoh opposite Livan Moinelo. Itoh owns a Pacific League-leading 131 strikeouts, while Moinelo remains one of the league’s most formidable arms. The last time Itoh faced SoftBank, on August 4, he was on the losing end of a 1-0 game. That illustrates exactly why SoftBank ML plus Under is a better construction than trying to cover -1.5.

Chiba Lotte Marines vs Rakuten Golden Eagles Pick

Total Pick: Under 7.0
This is my contrarian side of the card. The standings scream Lotte: the Marines are 48-53-3, Rakuten is only 41-63-1, and Lotte has won 10 of the 14 season meetings between the clubs. Rakuten has also been thoroughly outclassed by much of the Pacific League this season. Ordinarily that would make Lotte an easy selection.
The potential starting matchup changes my position. Kosei Shoji is currently the leading projected Rakuten starter, and he has emerged as one of the strongest pitchers in the league this year. His underlying 2026 numbers place him among NPB’s best arms, while he ranks third in the Pacific League with 115 strikeouts. Lotte’s projected starter is most likely Austin Long, although that forecast carries considerably less confidence. If Shoji is officially confirmed, I’ll take the pitching-driven upset with Rakuten at home. If Shoji doesn’t start, Lotte becomes the preferred side. The Under 7.0 is the more stable wager because Rakuten has struggled badly to generate consistent scoring.

Orix Buffaloes vs Saitama Seibu Lions Pick
Side Pick: Saitama Seibu Lions ML
Total Pick: Under 7.0
Seibu enters Tuesday at 60-47-3, tied with Nippon-Ham at 7.5 games behind SoftBank and considerably ahead of 53-54-2 Orix. The season series doesn’t give the Lions the same advantage: Orix has gone 9-7-1 against Seibu. What swings it back toward Seibu is overall consistency. The Lions are 28-23-2 away from their usual home setting, while Orix has been a completely different club outside Kyocera Dome, going just 18-38-1 on the road. Tuesday’s game is at Tokyo Dome with Seibu serving as the home club.
The potential pitchers make the Under the more attractive part of this matchup. Kaima Taira and Kona Takahashi are currently co-leading Seibu’s rotation forecast, while Aren Kuri is the leading Orix possibility. Taira has been sensational as a starter, carrying an 8-3 record and 1.49 ERA through 103 innings, while Kuri ranks second in the Pacific League with 124 strikeouts. If Taira-Kuri becomes the confirmed matchup, Under 7.0 could challenge SoftBank ML for the strongest wager of the night. Until confirmation, I’m keeping the Hawks as the official Best Bet.

The strongest pure side is SoftBank ML, largely because a 14-3 season-series advantage backs up the Pacific League’s best overall record. The potentially strongest total is Seibu-Orix Under 7.0, but I want the projected high-level starting pitching confirmed before elevating it above the Hawks wager.
