SSG will start Lee Ro-woon, while Doosan counters with Kwak Bin. Lee enters in an unusual spot because he has worked primarily as a reliever during the 2026 season. He owns a 6.85 ERA across 46 KBO appearances with 44⅔ innings pitched, 49 hits allowed, 28 walks and 43 strikeouts. His matchup history against Doosan has been much better, however, as he has worked 4⅔ scoreless innings against the Bears across five appearances. Lee also made several starts in the Futures League during August as SSG stretched him out, including outings of 4⅓ scoreless innings and 4⅔ innings of one-run baseball.
Kwak brings an entirely different profile. The Doosan right-hander is 11-6 with a league-leading 2.31 ERA across 25 starts and 148 innings. He has allowed only 120 hits and 10 home runs while striking out a KBO-best 177 batters against just 37 walks. His 1.06 WHIP and 10.76 strikeouts per nine innings reinforce just how dominant he has been. Kwak was also named the KBO’s August pitching Shell Helix Player after posting a 1.41 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 32 innings during the month. He already dominated SSG earlier this season, allowing one run across seven innings in a July victory.
SSG Landers Face a Difficult Pitching Matchup
SSG enters Wednesday at 52-67-5 and has spent much of the season trying to overcome one of the weakest pitching performances in the league. The Landers are batting .261 and have scored 621 runs, so the offense has been considerably better than their record suggests. They have also hit 130 home runs, giving them one of the more dangerous power profiles in the KBO. The problem has been preventing runs.
SSG carries a 5.38 team ERA and has surrendered 718 runs, the second-highest total among the ten clubs entering Wednesday. That becomes especially concerning when a pitcher with a 6.85 ERA is being asked to transition from bullpen work into a start. There is reason for SSG to believe it can stay competitive. The Landers won the first two games of their recent home series against Doosan by scores of 4-0 and 3-2 before being hammered 16-9 in the finale. SSG’s power can punish mistakes, but the problem Wednesday is that Kwak rarely gives opponents many of them.
Doosan Bears Have the Pitching Advantage
Doosan enters Wednesday at 62-57-4 and has been carried by the strongest pitching staff in the KBO. The Bears own a league-best 3.67 team ERA while allowing only 523 runs through 123 games. They have also recorded seven shutouts and surrendered only 96 home runs, giving them a considerable run-prevention advantage over SSG.
The Bears’ offense has not been nearly as explosive. Doosan is batting .267 with 575 runs and 95 home runs, placing greater pressure on its pitching staff to keep games under control. That style becomes much easier to trust when Kwak is starting. He has been the league’s most effective qualified starter by ERA and also leads the league in strikeouts, giving Doosan the type of front-end pitching advantage capable of covering for an offense that does not always produce big numbers.
Home field strengthens the case. Doosan is 33-24-2 at Jamsil compared with a 29-33-2 road record, while SSG has gone 26-36-1 away from home. The Bears also enter this matchup holding the narrow season-series advantage despite losing two of three in Incheon over the weekend. Returning to Jamsil with Kwak on the mound is a significantly different setup.

Doosan also owns the better overall pitching staff by a massive margin, with a 3.67 team ERA compared with SSG’s 5.38. The Bears do not need an offensive explosion to cash this wager. If Kwak delivers another typical start, Doosan should control the game long enough for its pitching depth to become the deciding factor.
