Boston visits Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. Local coverage includes NBC Sports Boston and WCGV. Boston is favored by 12.5, with a total of 223.5. The Celtics are coming off a comfortable win in Charlotte. Milwaukee just had trouble holding a second-half lead against Toronto and now has to deal with Boston’s perimeter offense. Boston Can Create More Good Looks Than Milwaukee Can Take Away
The Celtics are 7-2 and 2-2 on the road after Friday’s 119-80 win at Charlotte. They also beat Milwaukee 109-102 in Boston on Wednesday. That earlier meeting matters: Boston already got the outright win, but the Bucks stayed comfortably within the number we’re being asked to lay Sunday.
Boston averaged 114.3 points and allowed 108.3 before Friday. What I like about the rematch is the way Boston can make Milwaukee defend multiple actions. The Celtics can start with a drive or a screen, move the ball to the weak side, and attack again if the Bucks close out hard.
Jayson Tatum had 34 points, nine assists and eight rebounds against Charlotte. Derrick White added 18. Tatum’s passing is the part that matters most for this spread. If Milwaukee sends extra help when he gets downhill, Boston can make it pay without asking Tatum to score another 34.
Milwaukee Needs an Answer When Boston Makes a Run
The Bucks are 1-8 and 1-4 at home after losing 121-107 to Toronto on Friday. They led 60-51 at halftime and were outscored 70-47 in the second half. The good half shows why laying 12.5 on the road deserves some caution. The second half shows why I’m still willing to do it.
Milwaukee averaged 110.0 points and allowed 122.3 before Friday. The Bucks need to finish defensive possessions, because one Boston miss won’t help much if it leads to a fresh clock and another open shot. They also need enough offense to force Boston to defend deep into the game instead of letting the Celtics control the pace with a lead.
Tyler Herro scored 23 points with 10 assists against Toronto. He gives Milwaukee a way to create through pick-and-roll when the first scoring option isn’t there. The problem is what happens when Boston makes him give up the ball early. The Bucks need the next player to attack quickly before Boston’s defense gets set again.

Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks Picks and Prediction
Spread Pick: Boston Celtics -12.5
I’ll lay 12.5 with Boston. Milwaukee held the first meeting to seven, but its defense has given up too many clean second chances and open looks once it starts helping. Boston can exploit that without relying on one shooter. The risk is a late Milwaukee run if Boston takes its main players out with a lead. I expect the Celtics to have enough separation by then.
Total Pick: Over 223.5
The first meeting finished at 211, so the over needs a different game. I expect Boston to get closer to the 121 Toronto scored Friday, and Milwaukee only needs to get into the mid-100s to do its part. A long scoring drought for the Bucks is the clearest threat, especially if Boston keeps Herro out of the paint. My projection is Boston 121, Milwaukee 106.
Final Picks: Boston Celtics -12.5 and Over 223.5.
