Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz Picks and Prediction for Tuesday August 25, 2026

The Doosan Bears and KT Wiz open a three-game series Tuesday night in one of the most intriguing matchups on the August 25 KBO schedule. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. KST at Suwon KT Wiz Park, with SBS SPORTS scheduled to carry the game. Doosan enters at 58-50-4 and occupies fifth place, while KT sits atop the KBO at 64-41-3.

This matchup offers considerably more than the difference in the standings might suggest. KT has been the better team across the full season and owns a 6-3-1 advantage in the season series, but Doosan enters Suwon with the better run-prevention numbers and several extremely hot hitters. The Bears have a 3.69 team ERA compared with KT’s 4.38, while KT holds the offensive advantage with a .279 batting average and 5.5 runs per game compared with Doosan’s .270 average and 4.7 runs per game.

The teams also enter after nearly identical Sunday results. Doosan defeated Lotte 3-1 behind an outstanding pitching performance, while KT beat SSG by the same score to maintain its one-game lead over Samsung at the top of the standings. With neither club playing Monday, both will have a normal day of rest before Tuesday’s series opener.

At the time of this writing, widely available conventional sportsbook odds were not released. Our target side is KT Wiz on the moneyline, while Under 9.5 is the Best Bet. The total is playable at 9.0, but the value becomes substantially less attractive if the market falls to 8.5.

Starting Pitchers

The starting pitchers for Tuesday’s game have not yet been officially announced. That is important because the eventual matchup could move the projected total considerably, and there is no value in manufacturing a probable pitching matchup before the clubs confirm their starters.

There is one useful scheduling detail, however. Doosan used Gwak Been on Sunday against Lotte, and he threw seven scoreless innings while allowing only one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts. The performance moved him to 10-5 and continued an excellent stretch after he had allowed only one earned run over seven innings against KIA in his previous start. Because he just worked Sunday, he will not be Doosan’s normal-rest option for Tuesday.

KT also used one of its strongest starters Sunday. Logan Allen threw six scoreless innings against SSG, allowing four hits without a walk and striking out seven. Allen retired every hitter he faced from the second through fifth innings and never allowed a runner to reach second during his final inning. KT therefore will also move deeper into its rotation Tuesday rather than simply carrying Sunday’s starter into this matchup.

Until the starters are officially posted, our handicap places more weight on the clubs’ full pitching staffs, offensive profiles, recent performance and season series. Once the starters are confirmed, they are the one remaining variable capable of significantly changing the strength of the Under 9.5 recommendation.

Doosan’s Pitching Has Been Better Than Its Fifth-Place Record Suggests

Doosan’s 58-50-4 record places the Bears fifth, but their underlying run prevention makes them more dangerous than a typical middle-of-the-standings opponent. The Bears carry a 3.69 team ERA into Tuesday, substantially better than KT’s 4.38 mark, and are allowing approximately 4.3 runs per game.

That pitching advantage was on full display Sunday. Gwak Been overwhelmed Lotte for seven scoreless innings before the bullpen protected a 3-0 lead. Kim Taek-yeon encountered trouble in the eighth and allowed Lotte’s only run, but Takada Takuto escaped the inning by inducing a double play. Lee Young-ha then worked the ninth and struck out three hitters to secure his 20th save.

That late-inning sequence matters for Tuesday’s handicap. Doosan’s bullpen wasn’t perfect, but it demonstrated multiple ways of getting through the final six outs. With Monday off, the Bears don’t enter this series opener immediately following a high-workload bullpen day.

The larger question is whether Doosan can generate enough offense to take advantage of its pitching. The Bears average 4.7 runs per game, significantly below KT’s 5.5, but the current lineup contains several hitters who are entering Suwon in exceptional form.

The Bears Have Some of the KBO’s Hottest Bats

One of the most interesting numbers surrounding Tuesday’s game belongs to Jo Soo-haeng. He is batting .552 over his last 10 games, collecting that production across 29 at-bats. Ryu Hyun-jun has been almost as hot, batting .536 over his last 10 games across 28 at-bats.

Those aren’t season-long numbers, and bettors shouldn’t treat a 10-game sample as a new baseline. They are nevertheless important when evaluating the current condition of a lineup. Doosan may average only 4.7 runs per game for the season, but the Bears currently have multiple hitters seeing the ball extremely well.

Park Seoung-jae brings another streak into the series, having recorded a hit in seven consecutive games. Yunior Severino has also hit safely in six straight.

Then there is Yang Eui-ji. Beyond his importance in the middle of the Doosan lineup, Tuesday carries some historical significance because he enters the matchup one home run short of 300 for his career. Yang contributed to Sunday’s victory with an RBI double during Doosan’s three-run third inning.

Park Chan-ho and Ahn Jae-seok also produced consecutive run-scoring hits during that decisive inning Sunday. Doosan isn’t entering Suwon with a lineup that should simply be dismissed because KT has the superior season-long scoring average.

The matchup therefore presents an interesting betting tension: KT has the better offense across the season, but Doosan has both the superior ERA and several hitters carrying significant short-term momentum.

KT Has Been the KBO’s Most Complete Team

KT’s case starts with the standings. The Wiz are 64-41-3 and own the best record in the KBO, although Samsung remains only one game behind. Every game matters in the race for the regular-season title, and KT enters Tuesday having won consecutive games.

The Wiz average 5.5 runs per game and are batting .279, giving them clear advantages over Doosan’s 4.7 runs and .270 average. Interestingly, however, home-run production doesn’t explain the difference. Doosan has hit 84 home runs compared with 82 for KT.

That tells us something useful about KT’s offense. The Wiz don’t need to rely exclusively on the long ball to create runs. Their ability to string together baserunners and produce consistently has helped create an offense averaging nearly one additional run per game compared with Doosan.

Sunday offered a good example. KT didn’t homer in its 3-1 victory over SSG. Instead, Ahn Hyun-min drew a first-inning walk, Sam Hilliard doubled, and Kim Hyun-soo drove both runners home with a two-run double. In the second inning, Heo Kyoung-min reached on an infield hit, Han Seung-taek moved him with a sacrifice bunt and Kwon Dong-jin delivered the RBI single.

That is sustainable offensive baseball. KT can generate runs without waiting for a three-run homer.

Ahn Hyun-min and the KT Lineup Present the Biggest Threat to the Under

Ahn Hyun-min continues to be an important piece of the KT attack and enters the series on a hitting streak. His ability to reach base was immediately useful Sunday when his first-inning walk helped set up KT’s opening two runs.

Sam Hilliard remains another major threat because of the extra-base potential he brings to the middle of the order. His double Sunday immediately turned Ahn’s walk into a scoring opportunity and allowed Kim Hyun-soo to drive in two with another double.

Kim Hyun-soo remains exactly the type of hitter who can make an under uncomfortable. He doesn’t need a home run to punish a pitcher with men on base, and his two-run double Sunday supplied the decisive blow before the game had reached the second inning.

KT also has milestone possibilities of its own. Kim Min-hyuck enters the matchup one run away from 400 for his career, while reliever Kim Min-soo is one appearance away from 400.

The strength and depth of this offense are the primary reasons we don’t want to become too aggressive with an extremely low total. Under 9.5 gives us breathing room. Under 8.5 would require a much stronger commitment to the eventual starting-pitcher matchup.

KT’s Bullpen Gives the Wiz a Late-Game Advantage

Sunday also provided an excellent look at the back end of KT’s pitching staff.

After Logan Allen completed six scoreless innings, Sugimoto Koki worked 1⅔ scoreless innings. KT then turned to Park Young-hyun, who finished the game and recorded his 23rd save of the season.

Park did allow a solo home run and a double in the ninth, so the finish wasn’t completely clean. Still, he prevented the tying run from developing and closed out the 3-1 victory.

The significance for Tuesday is straightforward. KT has a defined late-game structure and enters after Monday’s off day. If the Wiz carry a one- or two-run advantage into the final innings, they have the personnel to protect it.

Doosan has a similar late-game path with Lee Young-ha reaching 20 saves Sunday. That makes the seventh through ninth innings particularly interesting for the total. Both clubs have demonstrated that they can shorten games once they get ahead.

KT Has Controlled the 2026 Season Series

KT’s 6-3-1 advantage through ten meetings is one of the strongest arguments for the moneyline selection. Tuesday represents the 11th meeting of the season and the 187th regular-season meeting between these franchises.

The all-time history is much closer than the 2026 results. Doosan leads the regular-season series 94-89 with three draws, illustrating that this has traditionally been a competitive matchup rather than one dominated by KT.

This season has been different.

One of the most revealing meetings came May 28 at Jamsil. Doosan actually received six innings of one-run baseball from Gwak Been and led during the early portion of the game. KT then attacked the Doosan bullpen and turned the contest into an 11-3 victory, scoring two in the seventh, six in the eighth and two more in the ninth.

Sam Hilliard was particularly destructive in that game, going 4-for-6 with four RBI and a home run. KT finished with 13 hits and eight walks.

That game is also an important warning against blindly assuming that Doosan’s superior team ERA guarantees a low-scoring game. KT possesses enough depth to turn a close game into a blowout once it reaches the middle relief.

The most recent completed meeting tells the opposite story. Doosan and KT played to a 2-2 tie over 11 innings on July 21. The next two scheduled games in Suwon were cancelled because of poor field conditions.

Taken together, those results explain why Under 9.5 makes more sense than trying to predict an extreme pitcher’s duel. These teams have demonstrated both possibilities, but the extra cushion at 9.5 protects us against a moderate amount of late scoring.

Recent Form Makes the Matchup More Interesting

Doosan’s last five completed games have produced a 3-2 record. The Bears beat NC 6-4 and 8-2 before losing 5-4 to NC and 11-4 to Lotte, then responded with Sunday’s 3-1 victory.

KT’s last five completed games have been considerably more volatile. The Wiz lost 9-1 and 1-0 to LG before exploding for a 16-4 victory, playing SSG to a 3-3 draw over 11 innings and beating SSG 3-1 Sunday.

That sequence illustrates why simply looking at recent scoring averages can be misleading. KT has produced a 16-run outburst but has also scored zero, one and three runs in three of its other recent games.

Doosan has shown similar variance, although its pitching remains the more consistent underlying strength.

The most relevant recent development may therefore be the way each team finished Sunday. Both won 3-1, both received excellent starting pitching and both successfully navigated the late innings. Monday’s off day gives each club an additional reset before Tuesday.

The Numbers That Define Doosan vs KT

The matchup can essentially be reduced to several competing statistical advantages.

KT owns the better record at 64-41-3 compared with 58-50-4. KT has the better team batting average, .279 to .270. KT scores more runs per game, 5.5 to 4.7, and has won six of ten head-to-head meetings.

Doosan counters with the better team ERA, 3.69 to 4.38, and the Bears have several of the hottest individual hitters entering the matchup.

The home-run totals are almost identical at 84 for Doosan and 82 for KT. That is particularly interesting because it means the difference between these offenses isn’t primarily raw home-run power.

KT has simply been the more productive offensive team across the season.

For handicapping purposes, that makes the Wiz the more logical side while Doosan’s pitching numbers make the total the more attractive wager.

What Could Go Wrong With the Under?

A good betting preview shouldn’t make only the case for its selection.

The biggest danger is KT’s ability to break open a close game against middle relief. We have already seen it happen against Doosan this season. The May 28 meeting was competitive through six innings before KT scored ten times over the final three frames.

The second danger is the still-unannounced starting pitching matchup. Doosan’s 3.69 team ERA is excellent, but a team ERA isn’t the same thing as the expected performance of Tuesday’s starter. The same applies to KT.

The third concern is Suwon itself combined with two offenses capable of producing extra-base hits. Even though the clubs have nearly identical home-run totals, KT’s 5.5 runs per game demonstrates how efficiently the Wiz can convert baserunners into scoring.

Those risks are precisely why 9.5 is our target rather than blindly betting an under at any number.

Why Under 9.5 Is Still the Best Bet

The strongest argument begins with Doosan’s pitching.

A 3.69 team ERA this deep into the season is no longer a small sample. The Bears have consistently prevented runs, and that gives them a chance to control the tempo even against the KBO’s first-place team.

The late innings also offer some protection. Lee Young-ha recorded his 20th save Sunday, while Park Young-hyun collected his 23rd for KT. Both teams have closers accustomed to protecting leads.

Then there is the market number itself.

At 9.5, a 5-4 final still cashes the under. We don’t need another 2-2 game. We don’t even need both clubs held to three runs. We simply need to avoid the type of crooked-number inning that destroyed the May 28 matchup.

That distinction is important.

Under 10.0 would be an excellent number. Under 9.5 is the target. Under 9.0 remains playable. At 8.5, wait for the starting pitchers before making the wager.

Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz Picks and Prediction

Pick: KT Wiz Moneyline

KT is the side because the Wiz have provided more evidence over the full season. They own the KBO’s best record at 64-41-3, score 5.5 runs per game, bat .279 and lead Doosan 6-3-1 in the season series. Doosan’s 3.69 ERA and the current form of Jo Soo-haeng, Ryu Hyun-jun and other Bears hitters make this considerably more competitive than the standings alone suggest, so I don’t want an inflated KT price. But with the game in Suwon and KT possessing the better offense, stronger overall record and head-to-head advantage, KT Wiz ML is the preferred side.

Best Bet: Under 9.5

Under 9.5 remains the strongest wager. Doosan brings a 3.69 team ERA into the matchup, and both teams enter after 3-1 victories Sunday followed by Monday’s scheduled day off. The most recent completed head-to-head game finished 2-2 after 11 innings, while both clubs possess established late-game options capable of protecting a lead. KT’s offense prevents this from being a blind under at any price, but 9.5 provides meaningful protection. A 5-4 game still gets home, and our projection lands another run below that threshold.

Final Prediction

KT Wiz 5, Doosan Bears 3

Side Pick: KT Wiz ML

Best Bet: Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz Under 9.5

KT has been the better team and has controlled the season series, but this isn’t a matchup where the standings tell the entire story. Doosan’s pitching has been substantially better by ERA, and the Bears enter with multiple hitters producing exceptional short-term numbers.

That combination should keep Doosan competitive without necessarily forcing the game into double-digit scoring.

The starting-pitcher announcement is the final major piece of information to monitor. Unless that matchup produces a significant reason to upgrade the offenses, Under 9.5 is the wager I want for Tuesday night in Suwon.
