The Hanwha Eagles visit the KT Wiz on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, for the second game of their three-game KBO series at Suwon KT Wiz Park in Suwon, South Korea. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. KST. Hanwha enters Wednesday at 49-63-3 and in eighth place, while KT has improved to 67-43-3 and remains in the battle near the top of the KBO standings.
KT strengthened an already substantial advantage in this matchup with a 6-1 victory Tuesday. The Wiz have now won four consecutive games against Hanwha and nine of the first twelve meetings between the clubs this season. Hanwha has lost seven straight games overall, creating an increasingly difficult situation for an Eagles team that must now face one of KT’s more dependable starting pitchers.

Starting Pitchers
Hanwha sends Ryu Hyun-jin to the mound with an 8-5 record, 3.85 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 114⅔ innings. Ryu has struck out 96 hitters while walking only 15, and his ability to limit free passes continues to give him a chance to work deep into games. His most recent start was encouraging, as he held SSG without an earned run over five innings while allowing only three hits and striking out seven. His previous meeting with KT was much more difficult. Ryu allowed four earned runs on seven hits across 5⅓ innings in a 5-3 loss on July 31.
KT counters with So Hyeong-jun, who enters at 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA through 96⅓ innings. So has allowed 107 hits but only eight home runs across 17 appearances, giving KT a starter who generally keeps the ball in the park and prevents opponents from creating immediate damage with one swing. He faced Hanwha on July 31 and surrendered three runs over five innings. Neither starter completely shut down the opposing lineup in that meeting, but So enters Wednesday with the better season ERA and the stronger team behind him.
Hanwha Eagles Need to Stop the Slide
Hanwha’s season has taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction. The Eagles fell to 49-63-3 following Tuesday’s 6-1 loss and have now dropped seven consecutive games. Their pitching staff has been a major problem throughout the season, but the lineup has enough talent that Hanwha’s record can be misleading when evaluating its offensive ceiling.
Kang Baek-ho and Roh Si-hwan give the Eagles legitimate power in the middle of the order, while Yonathan Perlaza, Moon Hyun-bin and Chae Eun-seong provide additional threats around them. Hanwha entered this series batting approximately .272 as a team while producing significantly more home runs than KT. The Eagles have demonstrated the ability to score in bunches, which is one reason laying a large run line against them can still be dangerous.
The problem has been turning that offensive ability into complete wins. Tuesday was another example. Hanwha managed only one run while KT steadily created separation. Ryu gives the Eagles a much stronger pitching foundation Wednesday, but Hanwha needs its lineup to respond after being held down in the series opener.
KT Wiz Continue to Control Hanwha
KT improved to 67-43-3 with Tuesday’s victory and continues to apply pressure near the top of the KBO standings. The Wiz have now won nine of twelve meetings against Hanwha this season, including four straight. Their advantage has not been based on one particular style of baseball. KT has beaten Hanwha in close games and has also produced several convincing victories.
The lineup features several experienced offensive options. Choi Won-joon and Kim Hyun-soo can create opportunities near the top of the order, while An Hyun-min and Sam Hilliard provide run-producing ability behind them. Hilliard returned to the lineup Tuesday and immediately gives KT another dangerous bat. Kim Sang-su and Heo Kyung-min also help give the Wiz enough depth that opponents cannot simply pitch around one or two hitters.
KT’s most significant advantage continues to be balance. The Wiz entered this series with a team ERA considerably better than Hanwha’s while still averaging around 5.5 runs per game. Tuesday’s 6-1 result illustrated exactly why KT has built one of the strongest records in the KBO. The offense did enough damage, while the pitching staff prevented Hanwha from answering.
KT’s Head-to-Head Advantage Keeps Growing
KT entered this series having won eight of eleven games against Hanwha and increased that advantage Tuesday with another comfortable victory. The Wiz have now taken nine of twelve meetings this season and four consecutive games in the series.
Recent meetings have been particularly difficult for Hanwha. KT defeated the Eagles 5-3 on July 31, 7-4 on August 1 and 12-1 on August 2 before Tuesday’s 6-1 victory. That gives KT four straight wins against Hanwha by a combined score of 30-9.
Ryu gives Hanwha a legitimate opportunity to make Wednesday’s game much closer. Still, KT has repeatedly demonstrated that it can find enough offense against the Eagles while preventing Hanwha’s talented lineup from taking over games.
Hanwha Eagles vs KT Wiz Picks and Prediction

KT Wiz is the side to back Wednesday. The Wiz own the substantially better overall record at 67-43-3 compared with Hanwha’s 49-63-3 mark, have won nine of twelve head-to-head meetings and enter after defeating the Eagles 6-1 Tuesday. Hanwha has now lost seven consecutive games, while KT continues to play meaningful baseball near the top of the standings. Ryu Hyun-jin makes laying 1.5 runs less attractive because he is capable of keeping Hanwha within striking distance, but the moneyline removes that concern. So Hyeong-jun owns a 3.36 ERA, KT has the deeper overall pitching profile, and the Wiz have repeatedly demonstrated that they are the better team in this matchup. Pick: Under 9.5
Under 9.5 is the preferred total if that number becomes available. Ryu Hyun-jin enters with a 3.85 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, while So Hyeong-jun carries a 3.36 ERA. Hanwha has enough power to make any KBO under uncomfortable, but the Eagles have produced only nine combined runs across their last four meetings with KT. Tuesday’s game finished with only seven total runs, and Wednesday brings a stronger Hanwha starter to the mound. KT should generate enough offense to win without necessarily turning this into another 12-1 type of blowout. Under 9.5 provides enough protection for some late scoring while still taking advantage of the quality starting matchup. I would also play Under 9.0, but I would become considerably less interested if the market falls to 8.0 or below.
