Today’s MLB Picks — October 13, 2026

Tuesday’s slate features Guardians at Rays in ALCS Game 2. Cleveland leads the series 1–0 following Monday’s 7–3 victory. The NLCS resumes Wednesday.

Game Moneyline Pick Run Line Pick Total Pick Best Bet
Guardians @ Rays Guardians +142 Guardians +1.5 — price pending Over 7 — price pending ✅ Guardians ML

Line used: A published Game 2 quote lists Cleveland +142, Tampa Bay -172, and a total of seven. Run line and total prices were not reliably available in the checked sources; those selections are provisional.

Cleveland Guardians @ Tampa Bay Rays

8:00 PM ET | Tropicana Field | TBS/truTV, HBO Max

I’m backing Cleveland +142. The Guardians have won four straight postseason games, but the stronger reason is the starting matchup: their scheduled left-hander finished the regular season with a 2.56 ERA. His two Division Series starts were considerably less effective, so Cleveland still needs better command and more length. Even with that concern, the underdog price is appealing against a Tampa Bay club whose pitching advantage did not hold up in the opener. Guardians +1.5 is our run line selection, with the price still pending.

Over 7 gets a provisional lean. Cleveland has scored 27 runs across its last four games, and Tuesday puts both relief staffs back to work immediately after the opener. Tampa Bay’s scheduled starter allowed one earned run in his first postseason appearance, but worked only 4⅔ innings; another relatively short outing could expose the bullpen again. Seven is preferable to 7.5 because a seven-run finish pushes. Without a verified price, this remains a direction rather than a priced wager.

Projected score: Guardians 5, Rays 3

Best Bet: Guardians Moneyline +142

Cleveland does not need to dominate this matchup to justify the price. +142 requires approximately 41.3% to break even, and I rate its chances above that threshold based on the starting matchup and improved offense. Keep the selection at +140 or better.

How to Bet MLB Games

MLB betting usually focuses on three main markets: the moneyline, run line, and game total.

A moneyline bet is a pick on which team will win the game outright. This is often the simplest way to bet MLB games, especially when one team has a clear starting pitching, bullpen, or offensive advantage.

A run line bet is similar to a spread. In baseball, this usually means backing a favorite to win by at least two runs or taking an underdog with a 1.5-run cushion. Run lines can create better betting value, but they also carry more risk than a straight moneyline pick.

A total bet focuses on the combined number of runs scored by both teams. If you expect strong offense, shaky pitching, or favorable hitting conditions, the over may offer value. If you expect strong pitching, reliable bullpens, or a lower-scoring matchup, the under may be the better option.

What We Consider When Making MLB Picks

Our MLB predictions are based on several key factors, including starting pitching, bullpen reliability, team offense, recent form, home and road splits, matchup history, injuries when available, weather conditions, ballpark factors, and betting market value.

Because MLB odds can move quickly once lineups, pitching changes, and weather updates become available, numbers may change throughout the day. Always compare the current line before placing a bet.

MLB Betting Tips

MLB betting can be streaky, so it is important to avoid overreacting to one game. Even the best teams lose as heavy favorites, and underdogs can have value when the betting market overcorrects.

For most bettors, the best approach is to keep bet sizes consistent, avoid chasing losses, and track results over time. The goal is not to win every single pick. The goal is to find long-term value across the full MLB season.

Responsible Gambling Reminder

Sports betting should be treated as entertainment, not guaranteed income. Only wager what you can afford to lose, and never chase losses. If betting stops being fun or starts creating stress, take a break and seek support.
