First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. KST, with SPOTV2 scheduled to carry the game. Hanwha enters Thursday at 49-64-3 after losing the first two games of the series, while KT has improved to 68-43-3 and remains only a half-game behind Samsung near the top of the KBO standings.
KT has completely controlled this matchup in 2026. The Wiz defeated Hanwha 6-1 Tuesday and 9-6 Wednesday, extending their winning streak against the Eagles to five games and improving to 10-3 in the season series. Hanwha has now lost eight consecutive games overall, while KT has won two straight and continues to push for the best record in the KBO.

Starting Pitchers
Hanwha will send Wang Yan-cheng to the mound Thursday. Wang enters at 10-5 with a 3.52 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 95 strikeouts through 120⅓ innings. He has allowed 126 hits, 48 walks and only 11 home runs across 23 appearances. His 3.52 ERA ranks fourth among qualified KBO pitchers entering Thursday, making him one of the strongest starters Hanwha can put on the mound.
This will also be Wang’s return after an interrupted stretch in the rotation. He dealt with pneumonia severe enough to require hospitalization and was given additional recovery time before Hanwha confirmed his September 3 return. Manager Kim Kyung-moon indicated that Wang was fully recovered and ready to pitch. That introduces at least some uncertainty regarding workload and sharpness, although his season-long performance gives Hanwha a legitimate chance to stay competitive early.
KT counters with Ko Young-pyo, who enters at 10-6 with a 3.61 ERA through 129⅔ innings. Ko has recorded 139 strikeouts, ranking fourth in the KBO, while allowing 129 hits and 13 home runs. Wang and Ko rank fourth and fifth respectively in the league in ERA, making Thursday’s matchup stronger on the mound than Hanwha’s eight-game losing streak might initially suggest.
Hanwha Eagles Trying to Stop an Eight-Game Slide
Hanwha enters Thursday at 49-64-3 after Wednesday’s 9-6 loss extended its losing streak to eight games. The Eagles showed significantly more offensive life Wednesday than they did during Tuesday’s 6-1 defeat, but the end result was the same. Hanwha has fallen behind early enough in too many games and has struggled to prevent opponents from creating additional separation later.
The frustrating part for Hanwha is that the lineup still possesses plenty of legitimate offensive talent. Kang Baek-ho has supplied major power in the middle of the order, Roh Si-hwan remains another significant home-run threat, and Yonathan Perlaza and Moon Hyun-bin give the Eagles additional ways to create traffic. Hanwha’s offensive ceiling was on display Wednesday when it scored six runs against one of the better teams in the league.
The pitching staff has made those offensive performances difficult to convert into victories. Hanwha has now surrendered 15 runs through the first two games of this series. Wang provides a much stronger starting foundation Thursday, but the Eagles need more than five competitive innings. If KT can get Wang’s pitch count elevated and force Hanwha into its bullpen relatively early, the matchup again shifts heavily toward the home team.
KT Wiz Continue Their Push Toward First Place
KT improved to 68-43-3 with Wednesday’s 9-6 victory and remains only a half-game behind Samsung in the race near the top of the standings. The Wiz have now secured the series victory before Thursday’s finale and continue to demonstrate why they have been one of the most consistent clubs in the KBO throughout the season.
The KT lineup has repeatedly found ways to pressure Hanwha. Choi Won-jun has been one of the league’s most productive contact hitters, while Sam Hilliard provides substantial power and run production. Kim Hyun-soo, Ahn Hyun-min and the rest of the lineup give KT considerably more depth than a team that relies on one or two hitters to manufacture its offense.
That depth has mattered throughout this series. KT scored six runs Tuesday before following with nine Wednesday. The Wiz do not necessarily need another huge offensive night to justify a moneyline wager Thursday because Ko Young-pyo gives them one of the better starters in the league. If Ko limits Hanwha to three or four runs, KT should have enough opportunities against Wang and the Eagles bullpen to create another winning margin.
KT Has Dominated the Season Series
Thursday will be the 14th meeting between Hanwha and KT this season, and the Wiz have built a commanding 10-3 advantage through the first thirteen. The gap becomes even more significant when looking at the most recent meetings.
KT has won five consecutive games against Hanwha. That stretch includes victories of 5-3 on July 31, 7-4 on August 1, 12-1 on August 2, 6-1 on September 1 and 9-6 on September 2. Across those five games, KT has outscored Hanwha 39-15.
That does not mean Thursday is guaranteed to follow the same pattern. Wang is one of Hanwha’s best starters and brings a 3.52 season ERA into the matchup. He gives the Eagles their strongest opportunity of the series to slow KT down early. The problem is that Hanwha has repeatedly failed to turn respectable starting pitching into wins during its current skid.
KT has demonstrated several different paths to victory against the Eagles. The Wiz have won lower-scoring games, comfortable games and Wednesday’s higher-scoring contest. That versatility is important when handicapping the side because KT does not need Thursday’s game to unfold in one specific manner to win.

Pick: KT Wiz Moneyline
KT Wiz is the side to back Thursday. Hanwha has the starter capable of making this significantly more competitive than the first two games of the series, but the broader matchup continues to point toward KT. The Wiz are 68-43-3 compared with Hanwha’s 49-64-3 record, have won ten of thirteen meetings between the teams and enter Thursday after consecutive victories in this series. Hanwha has lost eight games in a row and has now dropped five straight head-to-head meetings with KT. Wang Yan-cheng’s 3.52 ERA is enough reason to avoid automatically laying a large run line, especially after his extended break from the rotation, but the moneyline allows us to simply back the team that has repeatedly proven more capable of finishing games. Ko Young-pyo owns a 3.61 ERA, KT has home-field advantage, and the Wiz are still playing for first place. KT Wiz moneyline is our KBO Best Bet for September 3.
Pick: Over 8.5
Over 8.5 is the preferred total. This may appear aggressive with Wang Yan-cheng and Ko Young-pyo both ranking among the KBO’s top five in ERA, but several factors create a path toward nine or more runs. Wang is returning after missing time because of pneumonia, making it difficult to assume he will immediately provide seven dominant innings. Hanwha also scored six runs Wednesday, showing that its lineup still possesses enough power to contribute meaningfully to the total. On the other side, KT has scored 15 runs through the first two games of this series and 39 across its current five-game winning streak against Hanwha. The Eagles’ bullpen becomes the biggest concern once Wang leaves the game. A result in the 6-4 or 6-3 range is realistic even if both starters pitch reasonably well. I would play Over 8.5 and would still consider Over 9.0, but the wager becomes considerably less attractive if the market rises to 9.5 or higher.
