The Eagles counter with Park Jun-yeong, who is 2-3 with a 6.13 ERA and 62 strikeouts through 36 appearances. Park has recorded a 7.11 ERA against Samsung, creating one of the most uneven starting-pitching matchups on Friday’s KBO slate.
Samsung Lions Bring the Better Overall Profile
Samsung is 75-50-3 and remains only 2.5 games behind KT for first place. The Lions have been one of the KBO’s most complete clubs, batting .278 while averaging 5.72 runs per game. They have scored 727 runs while allowing only 571, producing an outstanding plus-156 run differential.
The Lions have also performed well away from home, going 37-25-1 on the road. They average 5.79 runs per road game while allowing only 4.22. Although Samsung’s road starters have combined for a 4.56 ERA, the bullpen has been excellent with a 2.37 road ERA. That relief advantage becomes especially important if both starting pitchers leave before the seventh inning.
Samsung has controlled this matchup throughout the season, posting an 8-3-1 record against Hanwha. The Lions have won three of the last four completed meetings, including consecutive 11-6 and 8-5 victories in August. Samsung has shown that it can win this matchup through pitching or offense, making the Lions considerably easier to trust than a Hanwha club dependent on high-scoring games.
Hanwha Eagles Continue to Battle Pitching Problems
Hanwha enters Friday at 54-69-4 and has struggled to remain competitive despite possessing a dangerous offense. The Eagles are batting .276 with 162 home runs and average 5.94 runs per game. Their power gives them the potential to score quickly, but their pitching staff has repeatedly surrendered those advantages.
The Eagles own a 5.20 team ERA and have allowed 727 runs. Their problems have been even more severe at Hanwha Life Eagles Park, where they are 25-35-2 while surrendering 6.52 runs per game. Hanwha’s home starters have combined for a 5.22 ERA, while the home bullpen has produced a 4.65 ERA.
Park’s assignment is particularly difficult because Samsung has already handled him successfully. His 6.13 overall ERA and 7.11 ERA against the Lions suggest that Hanwha could be forced into its bullpen early. That would be a dangerous development against a Samsung lineup capable of continuing to apply pressure throughout the middle and late innings.
Hanwha’s best path to an upset is turning the game into a high-scoring contest. The Eagles average six runs per home game and have been one of the league’s most productive September offenses. However, asking the lineup to overcome another potentially difficult start from Park and a vulnerable bullpen is not an appealing betting proposition.

Samsung owns the superior season record, starting pitcher, bullpen and head-to-head performance. Jurado has limited Hanwha to a 2.37 ERA, while Park carries a 7.11 ERA against Samsung. That starting-pitching disparity should allow the Lions to establish control before the game reaches the bullpens.
The Lions are the preferred wager at -190 or better. If Samsung’s moneyline climbs beyond that range, Samsung -1.5 becomes the more attractive alternative rather than accepting an excessively expensive straight price. Hanwha’s capable offense creates some run-line risk, but the Eagles’ pitching staff could struggle to keep the game close.

Hanwha’s offensive production makes it difficult to recommend the under, even with Jurado starting for Samsung. Samsung may be capable of scoring seven or eight runs without needing much help from Hanwha.
