The Wiz are playing host to the Bears at Suwon KT Wiz Park. The game is set to play at 5:30 AM EST, but this game is being played in Korea which explains the early start. Still, the game will be aired in Korea on KBS N Sports network.
Doosan Bears Preview
The Bears are coming in after getting an impressive start to their offense in the last game. The game ended up being an 8-5 win over the KT Wiz, but still was a good game for both teams, unless you were a pitcher. The win moved Doosan to a record of 2-1 on the year. The hitting for Doosan is sitting at a clip of .265 with 5 homers, but have posted a 3.38 ERA.
Heo Kyoung-min and Kang Seung-ho have managed to hit a a clip of 500 on the year for the Bears to lead the hitters in this young season. The Bears have seen Yang Eui-ji step up to hit for power with 2 homers, but the run production has seen 5 different players bring home 3 runners each on the year so far.
Heading to the mound for the Bears will be Choi Won-joon. Last year Won-joon threw in 26 games and started 20 of the and managed to post a horrible 3-10 record. Still, the pitching as not horrible with a 4.93 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. However, he did not go deep in the games and only recorded 107 2/3 innings while giving up 119 hits and 11 homers, but walked only 28 batters and struck out 71.
KT Wiz Preview
KT for their part have looked horrible on the year at times pitching the ball with a team ERA of 8.04. The Wiz are now sitting on an 0-3 record, but it is not from the lack of offense. The KT team is hitting the ball at a clip of .283 with a single homer on the season so far.
The Wiz still have a litany of players who have managed to hit perfect on the year, but they barely have any plate appearances. The lone homer for the Wiz has come of the bat of Mel Rojas Jr.. Bae Jeong-dae has ended up being the best hitter for run production for the Wiz with a total of 4 runners brought home.
Ko Young-pyo is the starter the Wiz are handing the ball to. Last year Young-pyo was impressive with a 2.78 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP all while posting a 12-7 record. He did throw in a total of 28 games with 27 of those games being a start. Ko did go deeper in his game with a 174 2/3 innings pitched while allowing only 181 hits and 7 homers, but struck out 119 while walking only 19 batters.
Bears vs Wiz Pick: KT Wiz
This will shock some people, but we are going to take the KT Wiz to win in this game. The Wiz have the better starter on the mound and while the Wiz have not really been able to hit well for power or run production overall, the Wiz have been able to hang in close with the opponent. Look for the Wiz to rely on the arm of Ko Young-pyo and his ability to go deeper into games to secure the win.
