Kiwoom Heroes Preview
Kiwoom heads to this game here after getting crushed by the NC Dinos in the opening game of the series. The final score in the crushing loss came in at 10-5. After the loss Kiwoom dropped to a winless record at 0-2. The Heroes are hitting only at a clip of .217 with 2 homers and a horrible 9.00 ERA.
When it comes to hitting the ball the Heroes have 3 batters who are hitting at 500 on the year. Those hitters are Ju Seong-won, Lee Hyung-jong, and Kim Whee-jip. Choi Joo-hwan and Ronnie Dawson have both managed to hit a homer for the Heroes. However, bringing home the runners has seen Lee Hyung-jong start to do that best with 3 RBIs.
The Heroes are putting Kim Seon-gi on the mound in this game. Last season Seon-gi has limited action with 17 games pitched and only 7 starts. Still, Kim posted a 5.98 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP and only a 1-3 record, but also recorded a save. He did end up pitching in a total of 43 2/3 innings while allowing 56 hits, but struck out 29 batters while walking 15.
NC Dinos Preview
The win for NC allowed the Dinos to move into a tie for second place in the KBO with a 2-1 record. The Dinos are hitting only slightly better than the Heroes with a .243 mark, but have cranked out 3 homers. Still, the pitching is markedly better with a team ERA of 4.67.
Choi Jeong-won has managed to record a hit in his lone plate appearance on the year and leads the Dinos in hitting. Kwon Hui-dong and Kim Seong-uk are the power hitters for the Dinos as both of them have managed to hit a lone homer. The run production has taken a marked turn on the year as Kim Seong-uk has shown that he can and does bring home the runners with a total of 5 RBIs on the year.
Lee Jae-hak is the pitcher going to the mound in this game for the Dinos. Last year Jae-jak posted a 5-5 record with a 4.54 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. In a total of 15 games, with 13 stars he only managed to throw 67 1/3 innings and allowed 55 hits with 33 walks, but did strike out 43 batters.
Heroes vs Dinos Pick: NC Dinos
Again the Dinos are playing at home and the hitting for the Heroes has not really kept pace with the opponents. Still, the big telling stat is the fact that the Kiwoom pitching team has an ERA that is at the 9.00 mark and Kim Seon-gi last season was far from impressive and will get roughed up early in this game.
