In a game that could be postponed from the weather the Kiwoom Heroes are set to face the Samsung Lions. The Kiwoom Heroes vs Samsung Lions 4/3/24 game is set to take place at 5:30 AM EST at Daegu Samsung Lions Park. The game will be aired locally on SBS Sports.
Kiwoom Heroes Preview
The Kiwoom Heroes are coming into the game here after beating the Samsung Lions. The win was rather easily for the Heroes who ended up winning the game by a score of 8-3. The win allowed the Heroes to move up to 7th place in the KBO. Still, the Kiwoom team is now sitting on a record of 3-4 on the year overall.
The Heroes are putting Son Hyeon-gi on the mound in this game here. On the year Hyeon-gi has thrown in 2 games, both of them in relief. Still Son ended up getting a 1.80 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. He has thrown only 5 innings on the year and allowed 4 hits and 1 run, but gave up a homer as well. Son did walk a batter and struck out 3 in his limited appearance. The opponents are hitting the Heroes batters at a clip of .269 while the WHIP sits at 1.63. Kiwoom has allowed a total of 10 homers on the year so far, but have posted a better team ERA at 5.65.
Kiwoom has a .411 slugging on the year and have ended up getting a .325 OBP. The Heroes have ended up getting a .258 average with 28 runs and 6 homers on the season. The base running for the Heroes is coming in with only 2 steals on the year. Lee Hyung-jong is the leader when it comes to the hitting for average for the Heroes with a .375 average in 24 at bats. The power hitter for the Heroes is Kim Hye-seong and Ronnie Dawson who have both hit 2 homers. The run production leader is Kim Whee-jip with 8 runners brought home.
Samsung Lions Preview
The Lions are reeling after the latest loss, but from the way the Lions record is shaping up it could be a trend the Lions need to get used to. The Samsung Lions are now sitting on a record of 2-6-1 on the year, but even with that record the Lions are only sitting in 8th place in the KBO.
Lee Seung-min is the pitcher that heads to the mound of the game for the Lions. Seung-min has a start already against LG on the year and it was a losing effort. Still, Lee has a horrible 13.50 ERA on the season and a 2.25 WHIP. In the loss Lee Seung-min posted a total of 4 innings with 6 runs allowed. Some of those runs came off of the homer he gave up, but also the 8 hits as well. Lee walked a total of 1 batter and only struck out 1 batter. Samsung has been horrible on the mound with the opponents hitting at a clip of .325 with a 1.72 WHIP. The Lions have allowed 9 homers on the year, but have a horrible 6.10 ERA.
Hitting for the Lions is not that good either with a .233 average and only 36 runs scored, but the Lions have hit 5 homers and have stolen 8 bases. Th slugging for the Samsung team is sitting at .325 and the OBP is .332. Leading the Lions in hitting with more than 15 plate appearances on the year with Ryu Ji-hyuk who hits at a clip of .455. Kim Young-woong is the leader for the power with a total of 2 homers for the Lions. Young-woong and Koo Ja-wook have managed to bring home a total of 6 runners each for the Lions.
Kiwoom Heroes vs Samsung Lions 4/3/24 Pick: Samsung Lions
If the Lions were a better power team we would take the Lions. However, the Lions are not a team that has a lot of pop and against the Heroes pitching the Lions will not take advantage of it. Now, the one thing that will tip this game towards the Lions and why we are taking the Lions is Son Hyeon-gi has two games thrown in on the year and both of those were in relief and he got roughed up and gave up some hits. Look for that to continue in this game here as the Lions are able to take advantage of the bullpen pitcher making a start.
