Wisconsin Badgers at Nebraska Cornhuskers 1/29/19 College Basketball Pick

Nebraska and Wisconsin are going to have a good Big-10 matchup in this game, but the funny thing is the Cornhuskers had a good non-conference schedule and the Badgers did decent in non-conference play. However, the Badgers since conference play have been able to accelerate and while Wisconsin does have 3 conference losses, they also have 6 wins. With the Cornhuskers, they have had a lot of issues in conference play this year with only 3 wins and 6 losses.

Wisconsin Badgers Preview

The Badgers will be looking to have a lot of the same production they have had out of Ethan Happ most of the season. What is really impressive is the fact that Happ was able to score his second triple-double in the victory over the Northwestern squad. While the triple-double is always impressive, what really blows me away is the power the defense had in the victory as the Badgers only gave up 46 points in the game and made it look more like a high school team beating up on a lower division rival.

The Badgers who have been led by Happ with, 18.9 points a game and 5.2 assist a game. have managed to score 72.8 points a game and 13.9 assist a game as a team. Happ also holds almost a full third of the rebounds per game the Badgers are pulling down with 10.4 a game, but the Badgers have managed to get a defense that only gives up 62 points a game on average.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Preview

Nebraska is coming into the game here with a loss that showed the Cornhuskers weak offense can be exploited even more. The Cornhuskers only managed to score 60 points in their last game and that was against Ohio State, who had the longest losing streak going on for the Buckeyes in 21 years. Not only did the Cornhuskers only score 60 points in the game, but the Cornhuskers also allowed the Buckeyes to score a total of 70 points and that comes from a Buckeyes offense that had been struggling, which is definitely not something the Badgers have been doing on the year.

James Palmer Jr has managed to lead the Cornhuskers with 19.4 points a game out of the Huskers 76.3 points a game. Passing has been a challenge at times for the Cornhuskers who have managed to get 14.1 assist a game, but that is led by Glynn Watson Jr who has only 3.7 assist a game. When the Cornhuskers have to clean up the glass they have managed to get 36.2 boards a game, but most of those have come from Isaiah Roby who has pulled down 6.7 a game from his forward position. Defensively the Cornhuskers are giving up 62.5 points a game.

My Free College Basketball Pick: Wisconsin Badgers +2

The Cornhuskers are playing decent at home and only have 2 losses on their home court this year, but the Badgers are coming in 4-3 on the road. The Badgers also rely on Happ for almost all of the production and when Happ is not in the game the Badgers have struggled. Throw in the fact that Happ has a history of dropping off production and getting in foul trouble on the road and it could be a struggle for the Badgers. I think the Cornhuskers, though, will be looking to show that the loss to Ohio State was a rare experience and not something that is common to see compared to what the Cornhuskers are able to do. Based off of that, I am going to have to say I really like Wisconsin Badgers to bring home a win in this game, but it will be a big battle for the Badgers before they can seal the victory. Final Score is going to come in with the Badgers on top 68-63.
