Rodrigo Nascimento vs Don’Tale Mayes – 5/16/20 UFC Fight Night Pick & Prediction
A heavyweight bout is always a lot of fun to watch, but it is also a great way to see the big guys have a chance to go the distance. Look at the battle for some of the previous UFC fights and you will notice that the fighters were not able to really carry out the entire distance because of fatigue. In this battle, it will pit Nascimento coming in as an unbeaten fighter to face Mayes who has been able to fight good at times, but has picked up some losses in his career.
While he is not really declared as a submission style of fighter Nascimento’s last win over Michal Martinek was a submission win in the fight. The win allowed Nascimeto to improve to 7-0 in his career, but he is 2-0 when it comes to the TKO/KO fighting and when it comes to submission he is sitting at 5-0. For Nascimento he has managed to get 4.29 significant strikes per minute. When it comes to his accuracy he is not horrible at 48.28% in his career so far.
Lord Kong lost his last fight by a submission to Ciryl Gane in the third round of their fight. The loss dropped Mayes to a 7-3 record, but he is 4-1 in the TKO/KO fights, but the submission battles are not really his key thing as Mayes is 1-1. Mayes is heading into the fight with almost as many significant strikes per minute at 4.25. The downside is the accuracy of the strikes that Mayes is throwing is not nearly as high at only 44.18% of them being accurate.
The tape shows that Nascimento is coming in standing at 6’3” and 246 pounds. He does have a decent 80 inch reach and that will definitely help his case out quite a bit. For Mayes he is coming into the fight standing at 6’6” and 260 pounds. Mayes does have a 1 inch reach advantage that has his reach at 81 inches.
Rodrigo Nascimento vs Don’Tale Mayes Prediction – Rodrigo Nascimento -105
The fight here is one that will have a group of fighters that is evenly matched, but the difference is Mayes is the larger man and as the matches go on he tends to tire out. When he gets tired he tends to make mistakes and with both of the fighters being fairly even when it comes to the significant strikes it definitely will lead to Nascimento having the better chance of winning as he wears down Mayes and eventually gets the submission win.
