NFL action is set to take place on 8/12/22 and it will feature Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers. The game is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game starts at 8:30 PM EST and should be televised NFL Network.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers are heading to this game here looking to have a good record again after finishing 13-5 last year. In the NFC North the Packers were able to finish with a record of 4-2 on the year. The Packer are bringing back Matt LaFleur to lead the team from the head coaching position.

Packers Offense

Green Bay is bringing back Aaron Rodgers again this year, but it remains to be seen how effective he will be. Rodgers last year went 366/531 for 4,115 yards with 37 touchdowns, but only 4 picks. The rushing offense for Green Bay would like to see more production from AJ Dillon who ran 187 times for 803 yards and 5 touchdowns, but only did a little better than Aaron Jones who carried 171 times for 799 yards and 4 touchdowns. Green Bay did lose Davante Adams who was the leading wideout for the Green Bay Packers last year.

Packers Defense

The defense for Green Bay had a fairly decent showing giving up 328 yards per game overall, but allowed 219 yards per game in the air and 109 yards per game on the ground. The Packers allowed only 21.8 points per game, but did end up with 18 picks and picked up 39 sacks. The offense did lose a key component, but the defense did add in Devonte Wyatt who should be coming in as a strong addition on the defensive side of the ball.

San Francisco had a great showing last year, but still only made it to the wild card. The 49ers ended up finishing the year at 12-8 on the year overall. In the NFC West the 49ers were able to finish at a record of 2-4 on the year and did not really look that good in the division.

49ers Offense

San Francisco is having a changing of the guard at quarterback with Trey Lance projected to take over at quarterback. Last yer Lance went 41/71 for 603 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 picks. The leading rusher for San Francisco was Elijah Mitchell who carried the ball 207 times for 963 yards and 5 touchdowns. The good news is the 49ers did bring in 3 wideouts in the game to help the young quarterback out in the game.

49ers Defense

Defensively the 49ers were one of the best defenses in the league giving up only 310 yards per game, but allowed 207 yards in the air and 104 yards per game on the ground. The 49ers did give up 21.5 points per game and only managed to get 9 picks with 48 sacks. In addition to bringing back a total of 8 starters from a stacked defense the 49ers added in some power with Charvarius Ward who was a standout cornerback for the Chiefs.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers Odds: Packers +1, 49ers -1

Over/Under Odds: 33.5

Packers at 49ers Pick: Green Bay Packers +1, Over 33.5

Odds from Betonline.ag

The game here should be a good battle and if it was the regular season would be even better. However, look for the 49ers to put up a good fight in the game, but still try to transition more to Lance in the starting role and that will give him more reps, but cost the 49ers the opening preseason game. Still look for the teams to play well enough offensively to get this game on the over.
