NFL action is set to take place on 8/19/22 and it will feature Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots. The game is set to take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The game starts at 7:00 PM EST and should be on NFL Network.
The Panthers come to the game here after getting a win in their first preseason game. The win was only by 2 points and came over the Washington Commanders. Granted, it was not that impressive of a win with a final score of 23-21, but it was still a win.
Panthers Offense
Offensively the Panthers used a total of 4 quarterbacks in the game. The combination of quarterbacks went 17/38 for 195 yards and a touchdown. Carolina was sacked 3 times giving up 13 yards. When it came to running the ball Carolina picked up 93 yards on 30 carries with a touchdown.
Panthers Defense
Defensively the Panthers faced a total of 38 passes with 23 completions, but gave up a total of 229 yards, but did get a pick. Still Carolina only managed to get 2 sacks for a total of 11 yards lost. The Panthers allowed 121 yards and 3 touchdowns on only a total of 26 carries faced.
The Patriots in their opening game of the preseason were upended by the rebuilding New York Giants. Granted, it was the first week of the preseason so panic should not be a major issue in Foxboro yet. The loss came by a score of 23-21.
Patriots Offense
The Patriots offense did use 2 quarterbacks in the loss. The quarterbacks, Bailey Zappe and Brian Hoyer, went a combined 24/40 for 256 yards with 2 touchdowns and a pick. The Patriots were sacked 1 time for an 8 yard loss. The rushing offense for the Patriots carried the ball 18 times for 52 yards with a score.
Patriots Defense
New England played decent defensively at times, but still were carved up when the defense had to face a good, but rebuilding Giants offense. The defense for New England allowed the Giants to go 27/47 for 241 yards and a touchdown, but did get a sack for an 8 yard loss. New England Patriots rushing defense was horrible facing 33 attempts and giving up 177 yards and a touchdown.
Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots Odds: Panthers +2, Patriots -2
Over/Under Odds: 40.5
Panthers at Patriots Pick: New England Patriots -2, Over 40.5
Odds from Betonline.ag
Carolina does not have a good balance again this year. The Panthers offense in the opening week of preseason looked impressive at times and had some good spots. However, the defense for the Panthers was horrible and could not stop a Washington offense that was not that impressive. Look for that to continue in this game here as the Patriots have an even better offense that can put up more points, which is why I see this game hitting the over and the Patriots covering the spread.
