Buccaneers at Panthers 9/12/19 – NFL Pick

Carolina PanthersTampa Bay will head into Carolina looking for their first win of the season. However, the Panthers are a team that is hungry as well and still looking for their first win. The downside for the Buccaneers is the team was blown out in their home opener by the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31-17 and that is definitely something the Buccaneers would like to avoid again on the road. The Panthers, though, are looking for their first win and first home win in the second home game of the year. The Panthers ended up losing the first game of the season to the Los Angeles Rams, but the Panthers kept the game a lot closer than what they were expected to.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview

The Buccaneers managed to score a total of 17 points in the opening game. However, the passing game is what carried the team as they managed to get 194 yards in the air and 121 yards on the ground. Jameis Winston went 20/36 and ended up getting 194 yards in the air. The downside is his efforts were not that good either with a touchdown, but ended up finding the 49ers defensive backs 3 times. Ronald Jones carried the ball 13 times for 75 yards in the game, but was spelled by Peyton Barber on the day who carried 8 times for 33 yards. Chris Godwin was targeted 6 times but only snagged the ball 3 times for 53 yards.

Defensively the Buccaneers had a very good showing as they gave up only 264 yards total. Out of that only 166 of the yards was in the air and 98 yards was on the ground.  The Buccaneers did give up 31 points in the game. Jordan Whitehead was the leading tackler for the Buccaneers on the day as he recorded a total of 8 tackles on the day from his safety position. Shaquil Barrett ended up recording the only sack the Bucs ended up getting and it was for an 8 yard loss.

Carolina Panthers Preview

The Carolina Panthers offense ended up scoring 27 point against the Rams defense. The Panthers did get a total of 239 yards in the air and managed to get 127 yards pounded out on the ground. Cam Newton was the leading passer for the Panthers as he went 25/38 with 239 yards, but did not get a touchdown, but did throw a pick and was dumped 3 times. Defensively the Panthers gave up a total of 30 points in the game and ended up giving up 186 yards in the air, but were not that good of defending against the run either with 166 yards allowed. Shaq Thompson and Tre Boston were able to get a total of 9 tackles a piece for the Panthers on the day. James Bradberry was able to get the sack for the Panthers for a 3 yard loss.

Buccaneers vs Panthers Line: Carolina Panthers -6.5  O/U 48.5  ML -310

My Free NFL Pick: Carolina Panthers -310 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6.5)

The Buccaneers are a team that had a decent defensive effort in the last game against San Francisco. However, the Buccaneers are now facing a Panthers team that had a decent offensive showing in the air, which was the Bucs weaker part of their game. However, the Panthers are a team that can bounce back nicely from the game they are getting ready to play against the Buccaneers. Look for that type of luck to continue in this game as the team is able to secure a win in this game on the money line, but if you are looking for a spread win go for the Buccaneers as the Panthers are unable to cover the spread, but win the game. Final Score, Carolina Panthers win, but fail to cover the spread 24-21.
