MLB action is set to take place with the All-Star game on Tuesday, July 19th 2022 and it will feature the American League at National League. The game is set to take place at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The game starts at 8:00 PM EST and should be televised on FOX.
The American League has been a very dominating force in the past 5 All-Star games. The American League has ended up going 5-0 and has not really looked back in the games after taking control over the game.
The American League is coming in with quite a loaded roster. However, 2 of the elected starters for the American League team Jose Altuve and Mike Trout have opted out of the game. Still the American League does have Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the roster as starters and that should provide plenty of pop for the roster. Some of the key reserves for the American League is Jose Ramirez and Xander Bogaerts who have done really well on the season so far.
The projected starting pitcher for the American League is Shane McClanahan. McClanahan has been a hard throwing lefty for the Rays this year. McClanahan has thrown 110.2 innings and struck out 147 batters. McClanahan has posted a 10-3 record and a 1.71 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP. The pitching roster is deep and even with Cole and Verlander opting out the roster still has plenty of top tier talent to shut down the National League hitters.
The National League will be looking to finally right all the losses that they have accrued in recent years. However, after the loss last year by a score of 5-2 it will be hard to see the National League bouncing back and actually taking a game.
The National League lineup is not as heavily stacked as the American League roster. A couple of the bigger names on the National League roster is Paul Goldschmidt from the Cardinals, but also Trea Turner from the Dodgers and Ronald Acuna Jr. from the Braves. The National League has a lot of the reserves already pulled out of the game and now are looking to Juan Soto and Pete Alonso to be some of the main backups on the field.
Clayton Kershaw is the pitcher that is slated to be the starter for the National League in this years game. The pitcher from the Dodgers is a left handed starter who has thrown a total of only 71.2 innings on the year while striking out 75 batters. Kershaw has ended up with a 7-2 record and a 2.13 ERA and a WHIP of 0.91 on the year so far. In addition to Kershaw the National League has some good pitchers, but also have some that are left with some mysteries as to how they made the roster like Luis Castillo who has struggled on the season for the Cincinnati Reds.

With most of the All-Star games the teams tend to be very evenly matched. However, in this game I do not see the National League coming in with the same level of talent as the American League. The starting pitcher from the American League is better when compared head to head, but also the National League hitters are not going to match the power punch that the American League hitters are able to bring to the plate. Still, I like the American League to win the game, but even with the strong power from the American League I see the game hitting the under.
