NFL action is set to take place on 8/13/22 and it will feature New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans. The game is set to take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game starts at 8:00 PM EST and should be televised locally.

Houston Texans

The Saints are one team that seems to fly under the radar each year. Last season the New Orleans team finished the year at 9-8 overall, but in the division the Saints were a formidable foe with a 4-2 record. The Saints do have a new head coach in Dennis Allen.

Saints Offense

New Orleans is bringing back Jameis Winston this year as the quarterback. Winston last year went only 95/161 for 1,170 yards and 14 touchdowns with 3 picks. If Winston does not work out the Saints do have Andy Dalton on the roster. The Saints were led by Alvin Kamara last year in the rushing attack with 240 carries for only 898 yards and 4 touchdowns. Oddly the Saints are bringing back 10 starters, but the loss is going to sting as New Orleans lost Terron Armstead who was a major influence on the offensive line.

Saints Defense

Defensively the Saints were one of the top 10 defenses in the NFL with only 318 yards per game allowed, but gave up 225 yards in the air and 94 yards per game on the ground. The Saints allowed only 19.7 points per game, but did end up with 18 picks and picked up 46 sacks. New Orleans is bringing back a total of 9 starters on the defensive side of the ball.

Last year Houston was not that good and it was reported to be a very toxic team to play for. The Texans finished the year at 4-13 on the year. When it came to the division the Texans finished at 3-3 on the year. The head coach is new this year in Lovie Smith.

Texans Offense

Houston is bringing back a quarterback to start this year that most people had never heard of before in Davis Mills. Last year Mills went 263/394 for 2,664 yards with 16 touchdowns and a total of 10 picks. The leading rusher for the Texans was not even that good in Rex Burkhead who carried the ball 122 times for 427 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Texans are bringing back a fully intact offensive unit and after finishing last offensively their is only one way to go.

Texans Defense

The defense for Houston was the second worse in the NFL giving up 384 yards per game overall with 242 yards allowed in the air and 142 on the ground. The Texans did give up 26.6 points per game and only managed to get 17 picks with 32 sacks. Houston is bringing back 8 starters from the unit that was the worst in the NFL last year and that should help Houston to a point, but the Texans have way too much work to do for being a threat this year.

New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans Odds: Saints -1.5, Texans +1.5

Over/Under Odds: 33

Saints at Texans Pick: New Orleans Saints -1.5, Under 33

Odds from Betonline.ag

The Saints offense should have a good tune up here against the worst defense in the NFL. I see the Saints winning this game rather easily, but for the Saints defense to easily control the Texans offense that is still going to be one of the worst in the NFL.
