NFL action is set to take place on 8/13/22 and it will feature Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears. The game is set to take place at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. The game starts at 1:00 PM EST and should be televised NFL Network.

Chicago Bears

The Chiefs are trying their best to become the new team in the AFC to beat. Last season Kansas City finished the year at a 14-6 record on the year. The divisional record for the Chiefs ended up at an equally impressive record of 5-1.

Chiefs Offense

Kansas City will be looking to see if Patrick Mahomes is able to live up to the same standard that he has in the past. Last year Mahomes went 436/658 for 4,839 yards with 37 touchdowns and 13 picks. The leading rusher from last year Darrel Williams is out. The back taking over is Clyde Edwards-Helaire to handle the duty and he carried the ball 119 times for 517 yards and 4 touchdowns last year. Offensively the Chiefs did allow Tyreek Hill to leave and he was the leading wideout last year for the Chiefs.

Chiefs Defense

The defense for Kansas City was not overly impressive giving up a total of 369 yards per game with 251 yards allowed in the air and 118 yards per game allowed on the ground. The Chiefs allowed only 21.4 points per game, but did end up with 15 picks and picked up 31 sacks. The Chiefs are trying to shore up the defensive backfield and at the same time add in some leadership by picking up Justin Reid in the offseason.

Chicago is coming here with a rebuilding year in place again. The Bears last year finished at 6-11 on the year overall, but in the division record in the NFC North the Bears finished at 2-4. The Bears are being led by first year coach in Matt Eberflus.

Bears Offense

Chicago is going to turn the ball over to Justin Fields this year. Fields, who had Andy Dalton to help him last year, is coming in after going 159/270 for 1,870 yards with 7 touchdowns, but did have 10 picks. The leading running back for the Bears is returning from last year and that is David Montgomery who carried the ball 225 times for 840 yards and 7 touchdowns. The offensive line is definitely going to be pushed to the limit here and has some new schemes in place, but those are definitely worth the change if it works out.

Bears Defense

Defensively the Bears were one of the better defenses in the league giving up only 317 yards per game, but allowed 192 yards in the air and 125 yards per game on the ground. The Bears did give up 23.9 points per game and only managed to get 8 picks with 49 sacks. The Bears defensive unit is bringing back only 5 starters from last year and that could prove to be costly for the Bears as one of the departures was Khalil Mack.

Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears Odds: Chiefs +3.5, Bears -3.5

Over/Under Odds: 35

Chiefs at Bears Pick: Kansas City Chiefs +3.5, Over 35

Odds from Betonline.ag

Okay, I have to say the spread is favoring the Bears in this game here. I think the Bears, since it is preseason and the Chiefs have a lot of adjustments to make will get the win in this game. However, I do not see the Bears covering the spread which is why I am taking the Chiefs to cover the spread. The other thing that I do not see being a big issue here is the fact that neither defense will play that well here as the Bears have too many changes to contain a changing Chiefs offense.
