Andrei Arlovski vs Philipe Lins – UFC Fight Night 5/13/20 Pick & Prediction
This prelim battle will be a couple of heavyweights going at it. However, the heavier fighter in the match is definitely Arlovski as he outweighs his opponent by close to 40 pounds. However, the fight will have Alovski who has been around for some time facing Lins who has been around, but not nearly as long and is not nearly as prolific in the matches as what would you would expect.
Arlovski is coming into the fight taking up the orthodox type of stance for fighting and with his size is taking up a striker position in the fights. Now, his last fight was against Jairzinho Rozenstruik in what ended up being a TKO/loss. However, in the fight before that Arlovski ended up winning by unanimous decision over Ben Rothwell. With the recent loss, though, Andrei has dropped to a 28-19 mark and when it comes to TKO/KO bouts is 17-11, but oddly for a man his size is 3-1 in bouts that ended in a submission.
Lins is coming into the fight using the same type of Orthodox stance that is going to be seen by a lot of the fighters in the area. Now, Lins, does not have a true fighting style that he follows, but he has proven that he is definitely a good fighter. The last 4 bouts that Lins has been involved in have all been wins with 3 of those being TKO wins, including one over former champion Josh Copeland. Lins did not compete at all in 2019 and with his most recent win in 2018 he managed to move up to 14-3 overall, but is 8-3 in the TKO/KO record and 4-0 when it comes to submission fights.
The tale of the tape actually makes it look like the bout should easily tip towards Arlovski. Arlovski is coming in at 6’3 and 244 pounds. The downside is for a man his size Arlovski has only a 77 inch reach. Lins is giving up some size in the fight here as he only stands at 6’2” and comes in at 205 pounds. The upside is Lins has a slightly longer reach at 78 inches, instead of the 77 of Arlovski.
Andrei Arlovski vs Philipe Lins Prediction – Philipe Lins
The fight here is going to pit upcoming Lins against a grizzly veteran. However, the battle here is one that will actually end up going to the upcomer. Yes, Arlovski is good, but it seems in his past few fights that struggle is the word that comes to mind. He has tended to get pummeled rather easily in those bouts and that definitely presents a problem for the veteran and with so many of his fights ending in a TKO lately it is only a matter of time before Lins lands the lucky blow that knocks Arlovski down.
