Atlanta Hawks at New Orleans Pelicans 3/27/19 NBA Pick

Smoothie King centerThe Atlanta Hawks are sitting in dead last in the South East and are playing so bad they are 22 games under the five hundred mark. The good news is the division is such a weak division that the Hawks are only 10.5 games out of first place. What is not going to help the Hawks out is the act the season is winding down and they will have a challenge to reach the 30 mark on the year. The Pelicans are heading into the game here with a 2 game losing streak, but are only 13 games under the five hundred mark. The New Orleans Pelicans, though, do not have much to fight for in this game outside of their pride as they have already been eliminated from the playoffs.

Atlanta Hawks Preview

The Hawks are coming into this game after picking up a win over the Philadelphia 76ers off of a buzzer beater by Trae Young. The win was one that was unexpected, but it was definitely something that left the fans in Atlanta something to celebrate. Trae Young not even scored the winning bucket, but he was able to lead the Hawks in scoring as well with 32 points. He managed to complete his double double by getting 11 assist in the game as well. John Collins was able to get a total of 9 boards in the game for the Hawks.

John Collins has been the leading scorer for the Hawks on the season with 19.4 points a game. Trae Young has managed to get a total of 7.9 assist a game on the season so far. John Collins has been the leading team in rebounds by 9.7 boards per game. On the season the Hawks have ended up scoring only 112.6 points a game, but the defense has been horrible as they have allowed 118.6 points a game. The Hawks have managed to get 25.7 assist a game and pulled down 46 boards a game.

New Orleans Pelicans Preview

The Pelicans are going to try to right their ship after dropping the past 2 games. One of them was a loss by 23 points to the Houston Rockets and that was definitely not something the Pelicans can have a lot of pride going for. The leading scorer for the Pelicans in the loss was surprising as the team had Frank Jackson score a total of 19 points in the game. Anthony Davis was able to lead the team in rebounding with 10 in the game, but he was split evenly with 5 defensive and 5 offensive boards. Elfrid Payton is the player who led the Pelicans in assist with 8 of them in the game.

Anthony Davis is leading the Pelicans in scoring on the year, but has battled injuries this season, but he has a total of 25.9 points a game. Jrue Holiday has been able to lead the Pelicans in assist on the season with 7.7 assist a game. Davis has been able to pull down a total of 12 boards a game on the season so far. When it comes to the scoring on the year the Pelicans have ended up getting a total of 115.4 points a game. The Pelicans defense has been costly for the team as they have allowed 116.1 points a game. When it comes to passing the ball the Pelicans have managed to get 27.1 assist a game, but have also been able to clear 47.3 boards a game.

Hawks at Pelicans Line: New Orleans Pelicans -1 O/U 240

My Free NBA Pick: New Orleans Pelicans -1

By all measures the Pelicans should easily  win this game and all the odds are slanted to the Pelicans. Now, the issue is the Hawks crushed the Pelicans in their last game they played against each other. However, the Hawks are taking the road in this game and the Hawks have only managed 11 road wins this year with 26 road losses. The Pelicans, though, are sitting at the five hundred mark on their home court this season and that is going to help the Pelicans some, but the return of Davis to the court, for some extra playing time will help as well. If Davis does play I see the Pelicans pulling out the win, but if Davis does not play I look for the Hawks to have a good chance in this game, but I am hedging that Davis plays again. New Orleans Pelicans win and cover the spread 115-110.
