Marquette at DePaul 2/12/19 – College Basketball Pick

DePaul Blue DemonsIn what should be a nice Big East battle on Tuesday it looks like it will be a game that is one sided. However, the Golden Eagles are the team that has ran away with the conference for the most part. However, the Golden Eagles are a team that needs to shake off the loss to Saint John’s if they would like to like to gain even more ground, especially after recently knocking off Villanova. DePaul for their part has really been looking a little bit lost on the season and have not been looking as strong as what they should on the season.

Marquette Golden Eagles Preview

The Golden Eagles lost to Saint John’s, but the next game out was a 1 point win over Villanova. In the game the Golden Eagles scored 66 points and allowed 65. The downside is over half the offensive production for the Golden Eagles came from Markus Howard who put in 38 points for the Golden Eagles. Sacar Anim was able to add in an additional 18 points for the Golden Eagles. The downside is the remaining points were spread between only 3 players. Theo John did end up getting 7 boards for the Golden Eagles.

Markus Howard is the offensive spark for the Golden Eagles as he averages 25.2 points a game and 4.1 assist a game. The Golden Eagles as a team only gets 78.5 points a game and 14 assist. The Golden Eagles have pulled down 38.2 boards a game and are led by Sam Hauser in most cases with 6.9 boards a game. Defensively the Golden Eagles are giving up 68.9 points a game.

DePaul Blue Demons Preview

DePaul has been playing under the five hundred mark when it comes to Big East play and when compared to the team the Golden Eagles recently beat the Blue Demons looked really bad as Villanova beat them by 12 points. The Blue Demons in their last game picked up a 12 point win over Xavier, but with how poorly Xavier has been playing this year that could be a mute point. The Blue Demons in the game were led by  Max Strus who put in a total of 17 points. Coming in with 15 points was fellow starter Paul Reed and bench player Femi Olujobi. The Blue Demons only used 2 bench players in the game. Olujobi also led the Blue Demons with 9 rebounds in the game.

On the year Max Strus has led the Blue Demons with 17 points a game out of the 75.9 points the Blue Demons have been able to average on the season. The passing attack has been led by Devin Gage who has 4 assist a game out of the 14 the Blue Demons average. When it comes to rebounding DePaul has been led by Paul Reed with 8.2 a game out of the 38.4 the team gets on average. Defensively DePaul is giving up an average of 72 points a game.

Golden Eagles at Blue Demons Line: Marquette -3.5 O/U 150.5

My Free College Basketball Prediction: Marquette Golden Eagles -3.5

The Golden Eagles did have a hard game against Villanova, but they piked up the win. The DePaul club had a walk in the park against Xavier and that will give them a little too much confidence in how good DePaul thinks they are. What else will hurt the Blue Demons in this game is the fact that the Golden Eagles have a tremendous talent in Howard and he can score almost at will and that was against a great Wildcats defense. I look for the Golden Eagles to bring home a close win in this game, but still cover the spread 78-72.
