The Milwaukee Brewers are one team that could really play good on the year and actually look impressive. The key thing that the Brewers would have to do is figure out how to jump out to a lead and hold onto it. The Brewers have been one team that needs to improve on that if they are going to be a serious threat for a long period of time. The downside is a lot of the Brewers players seem to be tiring of the lack of hold the team has managed to do in the past and that has led to some of the players leaving.
Milwaukee Brewers Starters
The Brewers have managed to get a decent number of starters in the past. However, this year the Brewers could be one time that the Brewers starters may not be the part that can carry the team. The ace for the Brewers is slated to be Brandon Woodruff. He is being followed up by Adrian Houser, Mike Moriarty, Brett Anderson, and Eric Lauer to wrap up the rotation. Last season Woodruff was able to start in 22 games and threw 121.2 innings on the year. Woodruff posted an 11-3record and has a 3.62 ERA and struck out 143 batters.
Milwaukee Brewers Relievers
Heading into the bullpen, the Brewers pitching does not look that much better compared to the starters. The main pitchers in the bullpen is Ray Black, Brent Suter, David Phelps, Alex Claudio, and Devin Williams. The closing pitcher for the Brewer is projected to be held by Josh Hader. Hader last year pitched in 61 games and threw a total of 75.2 innings on the season. In just 75.2 innings, though, Hader struck out 138 batters and posted a 2.62 ERA, but ended up with a 3-5 record with 37 saves and 7 blown saves.
Milwaukee Brewers Catchers
When it comes to manning the plate the Brewers are looking towards Omar Narvaez as the starter. He could be spelled by Manny Pina, who is listed as the second string catcher. Naravaez last year played in 132 games and hit at a clip of .278 with 22 homers and 55 runners brought home. When it comes to throwing out the runners he only managed to catch 18.3% of the runners for the Mariners last season.
Milwaukee Brewers Corners
Playing on the corners for the Brewers it is projected to be Justin Smoak at first base and Eric Sogard at third base. The backups for the first base is Ryan Braun and backing up at third is Jedd Gyorko. Last year Smoak played in 121 games and ended up hitting at a clip of .208 with 22 homers and brought home 61 runners. Sogard for his part ended up getting to play in 110 games and did decent hitting at a clip of .290 with 13 homers and a total of 40 RBIs.
Milwaukee Brewers Middle Infield
Now, the middle infield for the Brewers could be all over the place this year. The second bas position is set to be manned by Keston Hiura and short is projected to have Orlando Arcia starting. The backup at second is Brock Holt and the backup for the shortstop position is Luis Urias. Hiura played in 84 games last year and ended up hitting at a clip of.303 and drove 19 balls out of the park while bringing in 49 runners. Arcia ended up playing in 152 games and only hit at a clip of .223 while hitting 15 homers and bringing home 59 runners.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfield
The outfield for the Brewers is seen as one of the strengths of the team. The Brewers have Christian Yelich in left field, Lorenzo Cain in center, and in right field the Brewers have Ryan Braun on the field. The backup for all three of the outfield positions is Avisail Garcia. Last season for the Brewers Yelich ended up playing in 130 games and hit at a clip of .329 with 44 homers and 97 RBIs. Cain would end up playing in 148 games and hit at a clip of .260 with 11 homers and 48 RBIs. When it comes to Braun, he ended up playing in 144 games and hit at a clip of .285 with 22 homers and brought home only 75 runners.
Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
The Brewers are one team that seems to be some pitching and potentially some holes on offense for average. If the Brewers could get those holes filled then it would be easy to see the Brewers being a threat each year. However, this year the lack of consistent pitching will lead to a lot of high scoring games and with the Brewers not being known to hit for average it could really hurt the Brewers chances of winning the division and potentially even in landing in the top 3.
